Building Safari UI at Apple
Background
My first job out of college is at Apple, as a UI Engineer working on the Safari & WebKit team. The Safari team was looking for an engineer who can help them advocate ideas to the design team.
As 1 of 4 UI engineers, I split my time 70%/30% between writing production code and creating concept designs.
Outcomes
Created concept designs for bookmarks, full screen, and the main Safari toolbar (though they shipped long after I left the company)
Awarded 2 patents on usability and privacy
Responsible for major functionality like bookmarks, tabs, Reader, full screen, and more.
